Restless River

Founded in 2004 by self-taught winemaker Craig Wessels and his wife Anne, Restless River is a renowned producer from South Africa’s cool-climate Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Their estate is home to some of the region’s oldest Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon vines.

Craig’s focus is firmly on the vineyard, using organic farming, indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention to produce elegant, terroir-driven wines. The estate’s cool maritime climate and granite and clay soils are perfectly suited to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, with extended bottle ageing adding further complexity.
