It’s no secret that alcohol is expensive in Ireland, wine in particular carries heavy import costs – In fact, in Ireland we pay the highest excise duty on wine in Europe, roughly €3.20 per bottle (Sparkling wine carries a €6.40 excise). Then we have to pay a VAT charge of 23% on top of the cost price and excise duty.

For us it means hope, vibrancy and excitement. We wanted to align our business with the modern-day winemakers of the Cape, who employ people from many different backgrounds and ethnicities, and who are fiercely resilient during challenging times, as well as excited and hopeful for the wine industry in this wonderful region.
